Africa-Press – Angola. Seven agricultural cooperatives belonging to former soldiers in the municipalities of Sumbe, Cela, Mussende, Quibala, Porto-Amboim and Amboim (Cuanza Sul) benefited this Saturday from tractors, with a view to raising production levels.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio Amaral, who delivered the means, said that the tractors will contribute to increasing the production of the various crops produced in the region.

On the occasion, the person in charge defended the need for the machines to benefit not only the former soldiers but also other peasants in the preparation of the land, in order to leverage family farming.

Meanwhile, the director of the Provincial Office for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Marta Muhongo, encouraged the former military cooperatives to dedicate themselves to agricultural production, so that they can obtain income to support their families.

In turn, the beneficiaries promised to continue working to promote agriculture in the province.

The delivery of the tractors is part of a program by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, which aims to allocate a total of 500 agricultural machines to the country’s former soldiers.
