President of the Zambian parliament visits Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. A parliamentary delegation from Zambia, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, comes to Angola, this Tuesday, as part of the reinforcement of cooperation.

According to the four-day visit program that press had access to, the President of the Zambian parliament will hold a courtesy meeting with her Angolan counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira, at the National Assembly, as well as conversations and exchange of experiences between the two institutions.

The program also reserves a guided visit to the Palace of the National Assembly, followed by an official lunch, to be offered by the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira.

For the 11th, the Zambian parliamentarians are going to hold talks with 6 of the 10 specialized work commissions of the National Assembly, namely the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission, Defense, Security, Internal Order, Former Combatants and Homeland Veterans Commission, Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Angolan Communities Abroad, Commission for Administration of the State and Local Power, Commission for Economy and Finance, as well as the Commission for Health, Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology.

Before returning, representatives of the Zambian people will visit the Dr. António Agostinho Neto and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

In January of this year, during the Solemn Plenary Meeting, on the occasion of the State visit to Angola by the President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, promised to provide all the conditions for, this year, to create the Angola and Zambia Parliamentary Friendship Group, within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy.

Carolina Cerqueira assured, on the occasion, that the National Assembly is available to work on the definition of a new strategy to reinforce Interparliamentary cooperation with the Parliament of Zambia.

The leader of the Angolan parliament expressed the wish of Angolan legislators to strengthen cooperation relations between the parliaments of the two countries, for the exchange of experiences and good practices “in the search for the best solutions to solve the real problems of our peoples and countries”.
