Africa-Press – Angola. The coordinator of the Statutes Revision Commission of the International Institute of Ombudsmen (IOI) for the African region, Florbela Rocha Araújo, presented last Monday, in Vienna (Austria), proposals to amend some articles of organization.
These are article 10 on the loss of membership and article 7 on the procedures relating to requests for membership of the organisation, according to a press release sent on the first day of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Ombudsmen.
Alongside the proposal, the Angolan ombudsman also made contact with her counterparts, with a view to bringing the parties together, exchanging experiences and strengthening institutional cooperation.
The day was also marked by the holding of several meetings, such as those of the Executive Committee, the Working Group of the United Nations (UN), the Statutes Reform Commission and the Statutory Reform Commission.
Following the work, meetings of regional directors were also held, with the Africa Region meeting with the presence of four directors, namely the Angolan provider, Florbela Rocha Araújo, from Kenya, Florence Kajuju, from Zambia, Caroline Sokoni, and the provider Interim Justice of South Africa, Kholeka Gcaleka.
At the meeting, items on the work agenda of the meeting of the IOI board of directors, scheduled for today, the 9th, were reviewed for regional consultation.
At the end of the afternoon, the IOI Order of Merit ceremony was handed over to the honorary lifetime member of the organisation, Rafael Ribó.
For today, two sessions of the board of directors are scheduled to address matters related to the IOI working groups.
