Africa-Press – Angola. The teams of Senegal and Morocco became the first to qualify for the semi-finals of the African Under-17 Football Championship, taking place in Algeria from 29 April to 19 May.
In the first game played this Wednesday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, in the Algerian capital, Senegal thrashed the similar South Africa, by 5-0, while in the second clash held at Mohamed Hamlaoui, the Moroccan team overcame the host (3- 0).
The other semi-finalists will be known today (Thursday), after the Mali/Congo and Nigeria/Burkina Faso matches.
The first match of the semi-finals will be played on the 14th of this month, at 5 pm, at the 19 de Maio 1956 Stadium, while the second match is scheduled for the same date, at 8 pm, at the Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium.
The challenge for the definition of third place is scheduled for the 18th at Estádio 19 de Maio 1956.
The CAN final is scheduled for the 19th of the current month (20:00), at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
It should be recalled that Senegal was ranked first in Group A, with nine points, followed by Algeria with four.
Morocco occupied the top spot in Serie B with six points and Nigeria was second with six. Mali ranked first in Serie C with six.
This competition qualifies the four best teams for the final phase of the World Cup, to be played from November 10th to December 2nd, in a country to be announced by FIFA.
