Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived this Friday (12) in Malanje province, where he will make a brief working visit, with the aim of assessing the functioning of the main undertakings in the energy and water sector.
At the airport, the Head of State was received by the local governor, Marcos Nhunga, as well as by ministers, members of the provincial government of Malanje and traditional authorities.
In this region, the Angolan President will visit Laúca, one of the largest hydroelectric dams in the country, with an area of 24,000 hectares and a reservoir of 188 square kilometers to see how it works.
Its construction involved a global cost of four billion US dollars.
The visit to Laúca will be attended by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, other members of the Angolan Executive and local authorities.
On this trip, he will also visit Capanda, a hydroelectric plant with a power plant inaugurated in 2004, which has four turbines, with an installed power of 130 megawatts, each one that in all, makes 520 MW, half of the installed capacity in Laúca.
Malanje is one of the 18 provinces of Angola, located in the North of the country, and has around one million, 108 thousand and 264 inhabitants and with a territorial area of 98 thousand and 320 km2.
Consisting of 14 municipalities (Cacuso, Cahombo, Calandula, Cambundi-Catembo, Cangandala, Kiwaba Nzoji, Kunda-Dya-Baze, Luquembo, Malanje, Marimba, Massango, Mucari, Quela and Quirima), its calling card is the Giant Palanca Negra .
