Africa-Press – Angola. The head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Angola, Jeannette Seppen, praised, this Friday, Angola’s diplomatic role in the regions of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC) and the Great Lakes.
Ambassador Jeannette Seppen was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Angolan Communities Abroad of the National Assembly, Alcides Sakala Simões.
He stressed that the European Union is “very impressed” by the “very important” role that Angola plays in the region, in particular, that of President João Lourenço for the pacification of conflicts.
“We follow this role with great interest and admiration”, stressed the European Union diplomat.
Ambassador Jeannette Seppe and her interlocutor reviewed the situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the conflict in Ukraine, which she considers an important and very painful point for the EU.
Strengthening the Partnership with Angola
The diplomat said that the partnership between the EU and Angola is growing stronger.
He emphasized that, within the framework of the partnership with the Angolan Government, the European Union dialogues with all social strata in the country, for whom the National Assembly (the representative body of Angolans) is part of this inclusive dialogue between the EU and Angola.
The Angolan Government and the European Union (EU) recently signed, in Luanda, three financing agreements, valued at 120.1 million euros, which will serve to implement new operational programs of the Executive aimed at Human Capital and the Agribusiness.
The amount was made available within the framework of the Multiannual Program (PIP), guaranteed for the period 2021-2027, through the neighborhood, development cooperation and international cooperation instrument.
The partnership between Angola and the EU dates back over 35 years. The parties share the existing priorities in the Multiannual Cooperation Program with Angola, Economic Diversification, Development of Human Capital, aspects that are also priorities for the EU.
