Africa-Press – Angola. The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry assured, this Sunday, in Berlin, that there are many affiliated companies that want to set up their factories in Angola.
According to the executive president of International Affairs at the institution, Volker Tremer, German businessmen are looking for new markets, for the supply of raw materials and the installation of factories, and Angola is one of the countries at the top of the list.
Volker Tremer said, during a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João, that the chamber is a kind of confederation, with 3.5 million businessmen, members of the 19 chambers of commerce and industry in Germany.
“We coordinate a global network of chambers in 93 countries and more than 100 offices. And that is why we know that there are many, many German companies, due to the end of covid-19, wanting to diversify their supply chain”, he explained.
He added that for this to happen they need access to critical raw materials, as they don’t just want to extract the materials and bring them to Germany, companies want to invest in the countries, one of which is Angola.
“We are very interested in having closer contacts to do what we said. We want clean energy, and speaking of renewable energies, Angola is a good place for that”, he emphasized.
He considered that Angola is a growing country in Africa, where the engagement of German companies has a strong potential, as it is a potential market, with a growing population and a market with an abundance of natural resources.
The German official said that the meeting was very objective, as the Angolan official made it clear which are the strategic points of cooperation, to be built from now on.
He pointed out as main axes, the training of human and institutional capital, certificate of origin for exporting companies and a sectorized approach in this partnership, as well as the joint analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the Angolan market.
On the other hand, the Minister of Economy and Planning considered the meeting very important as it allowed the chamber to have a current vision of Angola, but above all because it opens doors in the Angolan market for a chamber of millions of members.
“From now on we will work on the defined experiments: namely, the organization of fairs, technical assistance to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, to guide the product certification process and the identification of potential sector partners”, he concluded.
