Africa-Press – Angola. The management of Petro de Luanda requested, this Wednesday, the Government of the province of Luanda, the use of the Coqueiros stadium for internal competitions in the 2023-24 season.

Tomás Faria, who was speaking at the presentation ceremony of the national champion’s trophy to the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, stressed that the request arises from the inoperability of the 11 de Novembro stadium, available only for international matches.

“We would like to count on the support of the governor to temporarily use the Coqueiros stadium, which we know belongs to the Government of Luanda”, he stressed.

On the occasion, he reiterated the request to the governor to place a tombstone with the name of the club in Largo do Atlético, concern raised by senior members of the community.

Tomás Faria asked the number one of the capital city for the order that will allow the club to obtain the status of public utility, a process that has been proposed to the previous directorates of the GPL.

The Governor, on the other hand, stressed that Petro’s visit to the provincial government demonstrates the assumption of a commitment by the group in 2022.

He stated that all clubs will have support within the capacities of the institution they lead, to allow the path of local sport to continue to be a reality.

Petro was crowned national champion on Sunday, after the 2-0 victory against Interclube, at the 22 de Junho stadium.

This is the second consecutive year that the group travels to the Provincial Government of Luanda to present the Girabola trophy.
