Africa-Press – Angola. The Mozambican Minister of Defence, Cristóvão Chume, praised Tuesday, in Luanda, Angola’s support in the fight against terrorist actions in Cabo Delgado.
Cristóvão Chume, who is in Luanda to participate in the XXII meeting of the Minister of Defense of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), said that thanks to the support of countries like Angola, villages and towns previously occupied by terrorists are now under the control of Mozambican government.
He stated that the greatest concern is linked to humanitarian assistance to families in the areas affected by the conflict, which is only possible with the reconstruction of various locations, as a result of the support of partners.
According to the minister, the process of closing bases of the former armed opposition, RENAMO, continues, hoping that the reconciliation will be as exemplary as possible.
Located in the southern region of Africa and bathed by the Indian Ocean, Mozambique is one of the nine CPLP countries, along with Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
