Africa-Press – Angola. The acting provincial secretary of UNITA, João Inácio Teles, Saturday, in this city, appealed to the Angolan Women’s League (LIMA), in order to remain firm and up to the country’s political challenges.
This posture, according to the secretary, involves actions that contribute to the achievement of all the goals that UNITA intends to achieve in the future.
The politician made this appeal at the opening of the days commemorating the 51st anniversary of LIMA, to be celebrated on the 18th of the current month, stressing that the women of the party must participate in all battles and indicate the way to go to assume the forefront of the other Angolans.
On the other hand, João Inácio Teles highlighted the bravery of the women affiliated to LIMA, who over time have taken difficult and decisive paths in the search for a free and just nation by conquering democracy.
In turn, the president of LIMA in Malanje, Rita Mateus reiterated the need for women to participate in public life, having lamented the state of vulnerability of many children, for which she appealed to the government to comply with the 11 commitments of the children, creating more policies aimed at improving the social and economic conditions of families and consequently of minors.
The activity culminated in a lecture on “Queen Njinga Mbande and the history of women’s participation in the resistance struggle against the colonial occupation”, given by university professor José Bento, who at the time considered the sovereign as a living example of courage and capacity achievement of Angolan women.
He stressed that Njinga a Mbande inspired the Angolan women to face the vicissitudes of life, hence the respect for her figure.
LIMA was founded on June 18, 1972 on the banks of the Kutaho River, Massivi, in the province of Moxico, and was ratified at the 3rd Congress of UNITA in 1973 by its founding leader, Jonas Savimbi.
The days take place under the motto “51 years for the appreciation, empowerment and defense of democracy”.
