Africa-Press – Angola. Musician Sam Mangwana will be honored at the Top dos Mais Queridos 2023 consecration gala, to be held in October this year.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rádio Nacional de Angola, Pedro Cabral, during the draw for the positioning of the 18 competitors in this year’s edition.

On the day of the consecration gala, to be held in the week commemorating the 5th of October, the voice of “Pátria Querida” “Maria Tebo” and other hits will be highlighted on the night in which the 18 competitors will parade in order of the bulletin of vote.

Sam Mangwana began his musical career in 1963, in the then Republic of Zaire, today the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in the group African Fiesta (from Tabu Ley Rochereau), later African Fiesta National, Africa International.

Collaborated with TP OK Jazz, from Franco. He formed and led the groups Festival des Maquisards and African All Stars.

Of her vast discography, the highlight goes to “Maria Tebo” (1980), among the other albums that cemented her international career in the 80s and 90s.

After conquering Africa and the world as an exponent of Congolese music, he relaunched his career in the Angolan market. “Galo Negro”, from 1996, is the milestone of this phase.

“Querida Pátria”, from 2005, was released after his return to Angola, where he lived most of the time until the end of 2019, when he opted for another trip, shortly after releasing the album “Lubamba”.
