Angola seeks free qualification in the Dakar2024 Rally

Africa-Press – Angola. Qualifying directly and free of charge to participate in the Dakar2024 Rally is the objective of Angola in the Road Rally Team called “TGRSA-1000 Desert Race”, taking place from 23 to 25 July in Botswana.

The target was presented this Thursday by member Nuno Santos, after the press conference on Angola’s debut in the race, one of five in the world with the label “Rally Dakar 2024”.

He explained that the objective is to finish in first place in the 1000 km race, in the classes of non-professional athletes, for access to the Dakar Rally, without paying the registration fee of 38,000 Euros, equivalent to Kz 27 922 172.

In his view, this achievement would raise the country’s name in the international “hall” of motor sports and at the same time reduce costs for sponsors.

He guaranteed that the group has maturity and automotive experience as a result of participation in the specialty since 2011, followed by 4 participations in a race in Portugal, with emphasis on Porto Alegre (2014), where they came in second.

They were also in South Africa, in the Kalahari, in which they were crowned runners-up, in addition to a chrono-rally, also in this country, in which they won the gold medal.

The TGRSA-1000 Desert Race, involves different circuits that will be covered in stages, the first being 63 km, on the first day in the afternoon, followed by two stages, on the second day (24), of 230 km each in the morning and in the afternoon, on the third day (25), there will be two of 200km each in the same periods.

The Angolan Rally Team is made up of three members, namely Nuno Santos, João Lota (driver) and Tiago Fonseca.
