Africa-Press – Angola. Coach Zeca Amaral was appointed Friday in Luanda by the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) as coach of the National Team, for the Cosafa Cup, to be played from 5 to 16 July in the southern city -African from Durban.

According to a note from the FAF, the bond between the parties lasts until the end of the said competition, in which Angola holds three championship titles, namely in 1999, 2001 and 2004.

Aged 56, Zeca Amaral already coached the Palancas Negras, the name of the Angolan team, in 2011, during which time he was replaced by coach Lito Vidigal, who led the national team in Sudan’s CHAN.

Zeca Amaral also has an extensive experience as a coach in the National Championship (Girabola), where he coached several teams, with emphasis on FC Bravos do Maquis, where he worked seven seasons in a row, since 2017.

In the event of the Southern Region of the continent, which marks its 22nd edition, Angola is in Group C, with Mozambique, Mauritius and Lesotho.

South Africa, Namibia, Eswatini and Botswana are in group A, Zambia, Malawi, Seychelles and Comoros are in group B.

The dispute model qualifies the best selection of each group for the semi-finals, together with the second place. The semi-finals take place on the 14th of July, while the final and third place take place on the 16th of the same month.

Zambia are the reigning champions.
