Feiba: Company Cabengo wants to relaunch coffee production

Africa-Press – Angola. Ten billion kwanzas is the amount needed to relaunch production of robust coffee in Bengo province, said this Sunday at the Panguila market, the head of the Recafe-bengo cooperative, Ernesto Cirilo.

At the moment, the network is making contact with official bodies at national and provincial level to try to unblock this amount, which is essential to relaunch the activity and have a subsidy for the amount of interest, the person in charge at the banana fair told.

He informed that he had received guarantees of financing of around 25 million kwanzas, with an interest of three percent, from the Agricultural Development Support Fund, FADA, while the Coffee Fund intends to make 200 million available.

He referred that he has received many promises and that if they are fulfilled, a door is opened for the development of the country.

“Robusta coffee has been abandoned, it is not possible to enter the forests, the roads are closed, but there is a lot of coffee to harvest,” he said.

He recalled that the triangle area (Pango Aluquém, Dembos and Bula Atumba) represented in colonial times 40 percent of the national production of excellent quality coffee.

The official also asked the entities responsible for the need to register the national coffee brand before others do so, as Amboim coffee is already being produced in Brazil.

We all have to work together, but there are things that the government has to do because the producers don’t have the capacity, he pointed out.

Cabengo, Companhia Agrícola Comercial, has 30 associates and has been in the market for two years.
