Africa-Press – Angola. A master plan of action on the vision of the regional organizations CAO, CEEAC, CIRGL and SADC was defined this Monday, in Luanda, during the ministerial meeting that precedes the quadripartite summit with the Heads of State and Government.

This is the vision of African regional organizations on the paths to peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), informed the Head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, at the end of the meeting.

The master plan, explained the official, is the document that reinforces the relevance of the work carried out by the referred organizations and should be presented at the Summit of Heads of State and Government, which takes place on Tuesday (27th), in the Angolan capital.

Téte António advanced that the ministerial meeting aimed to harmonize all initiatives around the DRC, with the participation of the African Union (AU), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as well as the East African Community (CAO ).

Also represented at the meeting of ministers were the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL).

Speaking to the press, Teté António stated that during the Summit a memorandum should be signed between the AU and the East African Community regarding the financing of the latter, within the framework of the continental organisation’s peace fund.

On the subject, minister Téte António informed that at a meeting in Addis-Ababa (Ethiopia), Angola encouraged the AU to support, with the peace fund it has at its disposal, the efforts of CAO, as they did in Senegal and Angola.

The minister considered that it was a historic meeting, as it brought together for the first time four African Communities and Regional Mechanisms, under the auspices of the AU and with the participation of the UN, to analyze cross-cutting themes of the continent, the cradle of humanity.

The aforementioned meeting brought together ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Defense, Interior and Special Services,

For the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, the presence of the referred individuals reflects the meaning that peace, security and political stability in the Great Lakes Region have for each of the organizations represented.

The meeting’s agenda included, among other matters, the discussion of the Experts’ Report on the Joint and Consolidated Master Plan of the Multilevel Coordination Working Group, as well as the Draft Communiqué of the Quadripartite Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the four organizations regional.

One of the objectives of the Quadripartite Summit is to reinforce the coordination and harmonization of the regional commitments with which each of these organizations has been contributing to peacemaking in the region, avoiding the duplication of efforts and optimizing initiatives and resources.
