Africa-Press – Angola. Two hundred and 94 projects are underway to respond to the socio-economic difficulties in the province of Luanda, said, Monday, the deputy governor for the Economic sector, Gilson Carmelino.
Speaking at the opening of the “1st Cacuaco Youth Camp”, he recalled that, at the end of last year, the Integrated Plan of the Province of Luanda was approved for the five-year period 2023-2027, to respond to issues related to communication routes, energy supply and water, micro and macro drainage, education and health.
According to the official, the focus is on the Education and Health sector, but also cover social assistance, housing, public security, as well as job creation.
At the same time, the preparation of projects for the improvement and construction of support centers for artisanal fishing, agricultural cooperatives, creation and support of cooperatives for the collection of solid waste, to promote the circular economy, the continuous incentive of the Program for the Reconversion of Informality for Economic Formalization (PREI), Kwenda, Prodesi and Combating Poverty.
According to the vice-governor, with the size of these projects, there will be employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the citizens of Luanda, anticipating the emergence of micro, small, medium and large companies, to support the Government in carrying out the initiatives.
Gilson Carmelino stressed that the country is “in a period of firm transition in the role of the State, changing from an actor and economic operator to a regulator and catalyst”, considering that this stage “opens the way for the emergence of private business activities”.
For this reason, the Provincial Government of Luanda applauds the initiative of the Municipal Administration of Cacuaco in bringing together young people in a single space for sharing and exchanging experiences, in order to hear directly from the Executive the existing impactful projects.
The 1st Youth Camp in Cacuaco is part of the 83 years since the elevation of this region to the category of village and will take place from the 26th of June to the 1st of July.
