Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the PRS in Huambo, António Soliya Selende, Tuesday, appealed to the government to fulfill the promises made during the electoral campaign, in 2022, in order to improve the well-being of Angolans.
The party member, who was speaking to the press at the end of a visit to the wholesale warehouses selling basic basket products, said that the government has a responsibility to improve the quality of life of the population, starting with increasing the capacity of the purchasing power, as promised in past elections.
“It is urgent to fulfill electoral promises, with the aim of reversing the drastic rise in prices of basic basket products, such as rice, sugar, beans, vegetable oil and salt, in the order of almost 100 percent of the cost of the last two weeks”, he stressed.
António Soliya Selende said it was important that government authorities seek solutions to reverse the current situation.
Likewise, the politician called for the intensification of price inspection actions, as “it cannot be allowed that a product of the same quality is sold at completely different prices in warehouses, both in the city of Huambo and in the surroundings”.
According to the supporter, it is important that the population, regardless of political ideologies, be more active in denouncing cases of price speculation and, at the same time, cultivate a patriotic and demanding spirit, for the fulfillment of constitutional rights.
In the last general elections, held on August 24, 2022, won by the MPLA, the PRS did not elect any deputy for the constituency of Huambo province, obtaining 4,704 votes, equivalent to 0.86 percent, out of a total of 561,326 voters turned to the polls to exercise their right to citizenship.
