Africa-Press – Angola. Six hundred and three citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were detained by the National Police in Lunda Norte, for attempting to enter the national territory illegally.

The information was provided this Monday by the technician from the Institutional Communication and Press department of the Provincial Command of the National Police, Alexandre Pereira, stressing that the immigrants were detained at the border posts in the municipalities of Cuango, Caungula, Lóvua Chitato and Cambulo.

According to the coach, the immigrants, who were accompanied by 73 children, were repatriated to their country of origin after administrative procedures.

He added that they tried to use “fiote” paths to make it difficult for defense and security bodies to intervene.

He appealed to the population residing in border areas to collaborate with defense and security bodies, denouncing cases of aid to illegal immigration.

The province of Lunda Norte shares a border with the DRC about 770 kilometers long.
