Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, this Saturday expressed his country’s interest in exchanging experiences on social inclusion policies with African States, especially Angola, but always taking into account the reality of each country.
“We don’t want to impose our rules on any country, what we want is to show that it is possible to do it. Adapt these rules to your reality and make sure that you will succeed”, stressed Lula da Silva, for whom the “greatest weapon ” in this challenge is the generation of more jobs.
In a press conference, the Brazilian statesman considered it fundamental that the budgets of the States must “always take into account the part of the poor people”, similar to what happened in his previous consulate of government in Brazil, with emphasis on the “zero hunger program “.
President Lula da Silva said it was
necessary to create conditions for small producers to be able to produce with dignity, along with the creation of food acquisition programs, with the aim of reducing hunger.
Compliments to Cafu’s channel
The Brazilian President praised the Angolan Government for the construction of the Canal do Cafu, in Cunene province, recalling that a 640-kilometer canal was built in Brazil to bring water to 12 million people living in the driest regions of that country.
campaign against inequality
The President of the Federative Republic of Brazil said that he intends to carry out a worldwide campaign against inequality, whose intention has already been transmitted to Pope Francis.
He said it was necessary to fight gender, race, education and health inequality and, fundamentally, solve the problem of 735 million people who suffer from hunger in the world.
Alongside this, he promised to work to recover the fruitful relationship with Angola and, on the other hand, he expressed indignation at the fact that a country the size of Brazil does not, so far, have flights that directly connect to an African destination.
The best state visit
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva considered the state visit he made to Angola extremely positive, giving the same grade 10.
The Brazilian statesman, who has already been to Angola twice (state visits in 2003 and 2007), considered the 2023 visit to be the best he has ever done.
He thanked his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, for his delegation, which included ministers of his Government, deputies and Brazilian businessmen.
The Brazilian statesman, who has been on a State visit to the country since Thursday, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, should travel to São Tomé and Príncipe, for the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
Cooperation between Angola and Brazil began to take shape on June 11, 1980, with the signing of the Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Agreement.
Under this agreement, the two countries developed bilateral cooperation in the areas of health, culture, public administration, professional training, education, environment, sports, statistics and agriculture.
Brazil was the first country in the world to recognize Angola’s independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975, by then President António Agostinho Neto.
