Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan swimmer N’Hara Fernandes surpassed, this Monday, her personal record by timing a time of 35 seconds and 50 tenths, among 58 competitors, in the Junior World Championship in swimming, taking place in Netanya (Israel) .

Overall, he ranked 36th in the 50m breaststroke event, surpassing the previous mark in the specialty of 36.39, beaten in the 2022 edition, held in the Peruvian city of Lima.

With this record, the swimmer also lowered her time to 37.02, with which she won the silver medal in the African Zonal IV, held in May this year, in Luanda.

The women’s National Team also made its debut with the sprinter Carlota Silva, who marked her first appearance in the service of the national team, placing 59th, among 63 opponents, with a time of 1:14.11, in the 100m coastline.

At this distance, the other Angolan representative Nyriam Morais occupied the 61st position, clocking 1:14.45, surpassing her previous performance (01:15.85) made at the 2022 world cup, in Peru.

In men’s, the national combined disputed with David Padre, who cut the 400m freestyle in 57th, with a mark of 4:33.40, in a list of 61 opponents. The swimmer improved the time of 4:37.47 with which he won silver at the Absolute National Championship last July.

In the 100 coast, Angola was present with Yusseni Furtado, who was in 51st place, with a mark of 1:04.12, among 60 athletes.

In the 100m breaststroke, the country participated with José Cochofel, who secured the 50th position with a time of 1:14.35, in addition to Janel Tati, who was in 52nd, with a course of 1:15.95. Despite having surpassed the marks, the performance was insufficient to reach the semi-finals.

The National Team will compete again this Tuesday in the 100m freestyle with N’hara Fernandes and Carlota Silva, in the same series (2), in the 800m freestyle with Jasmine Lourenço.

In men, they enter the scene in the 100m butterfly with Enzo Anjos and Yusseni Furtado, in the 200m freestyle with David Padre and Janel Tati and in the 200m styles with José Cochofel.

Angola is participating for the fifth time at an event of its kind, after editions in the United Arab Emirates (2013), Singapore (2015), Budapest, Hungary (2019) and Peru (2022.
