Africa-Press – Angola. The administrator of the municipality of Caála, Rúben Etome, considered, on Wednesday, the political vision of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, as a “true instrument” for good governance.
The official, who was speaking at the opening of the sessions on September 17th, National Hero’s Day, said that the vision and patriotic value of the Founder of the Angolan Nation and Greatest Poet must continue to be a source of inspiration for current and future generations.
Ruben Etome explained that the life and work of the first Angolan statesman demonstrate the need and commitment to good governance for the benefit of the population, in addition to valuing cultural identity, with a focus on national unity within a healthy social environment.
He highlighted that Agostinho Neto highlighted the need to build a solid patriotic base, placing the noble interests of the Nation above any other.
Before politicians, religious people and members of internal security and order bodies, the administrator added that Neto’s work presents a multifaceted perspective, which should inspire young people to preserve peace and national unity.
Lectures on the life and work of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, in schools and other gathering points for young people and teenagers should mark the days commemorating National Hero Day.
António Agostinho Neto was born in Icolo e Bengo on September 17, 1922 and died in Moscow on September 10, 1979.
He was an Angolan doctor, writer and politician. In 1975 he proclaimed National Independence and became the first President of Angola until 1979.
