Africa-Press – Angola. The Republic of Angola signed, this Friday (8), a memorandum of understanding on certification in the field of welding with South African and Portuguese companies, to adjust and raise the quality of diplomas to the needs of the international market and guarantee employability to candidates in the sector.

On the Angolan side, those responsible for the Integrated Technological Training Center (CINFOTEC), Manuel Alberto Bole, and the Angolan Maritime Training Center (CFMA), Wiky Tabita, signed, while the National Petroleum Institute (INP) was responsible for Joy Raúl Joaquim.

For the certifying companies, those responsible for the Portuguese group ISQ Academy, Margarida Segard, signed, while for the South African companies SAIW signed, Confidence Lekoane, and for M&B, Manuel Tati.

The Protocol was signed on the sidelines of the 1st workshop on Industrial Welding, which took place under the motto “welding, a factor in the development of Angolan industry”, held by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security and Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.

On the occasion, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo stated that the country has institutions that train professionals in the field of welding, hence the need to certify them so that they are fully recognized.

By way of example, he mentioned that the National Petroleum Institute was admitted as an observer member of the European Welding Association, demonstrating that the certification process is on track.

“This is also a recognition of the work that is done at INP and it is an opportunity for us to have this international exchange and have better certification”, he highlighted.

Along this path, he pointed to the signed memorandum as a path to increasingly improve in the area of certification, in order to be with international partners, learn from them and thus improve.

He stated that technology is fundamental for economic growth and development, as it also allows better use of national raw materials.

In this way, he argued, “it will be possible to compete better in this global world, where Angola can stop being a simple supplier of raw materials and also master all the technologies that compete in this aspect”.

“The idea is for both parties to win and not go in just one direction”, he argued.

During the workshop, topics such as the Importance of EWF systems for metallurgical industries, new trends focusing on the use of 3D manufacturing printing, among others, were developed.

The first workshop on industrial welding, held under the motto “welding, a factor in the development of Angolan industry”, in a joint organization between the ministries of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security and Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.

The event is aligned with the industry’s Angolanization strategy, focusing on the Oil Sector, a process that essentially involves raising the technical and professional level of national human capital to meet market demands.
