Africa-Press – Angola. International master Esperança Caxita (MI), from 1.o de Agosto, is the main reference of the absolute National Chess Championship, to be played from the 16th to the 25th of this month, in the municipality of Cacuaco.
In the women’s race, other prominent athletes from the country’s science game will participate, such as FIDE masters (MF), Ednasia Júnior and Luzia Pires (both from 1.o de Agosto), as well as Jemima Paulo (Ditrov school).
Esperança Caxita, reigning champion, only needs points (ello score) to become “Grand Master”, the highest category awarded by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
In the men’s sector, the event will be held simultaneously with the women’s, in the same location, the highlights are MI Catarino Domingos (ASA), Amorim Agnelo (1o de Agosto) and Erikson Soares (Escola Tubarõezinhos), in addition to MF Manuel Alberto ( Escola João Júlio), Domingos Junior (Escola Macovi) and Eduardo Pascoal (1st of August).
MI Davide Silva, champion of the category, will be the big absentee as he finds himself progressing in international tournaments in several European countries.
According to Chess Ressalt, the official website of all “chess” activities in the world, 49 athletes will participate in the competitions, of which 27 are male and 22 are female.
The absolute national championships will be played in the Swiss system. Players will have a reflection time of 90 minutes and an additional 30 seconds for each movement.
Francisco Andrade will be the main referee, while Manuel Vander and Nandjungo Tubias will be the assistants.
