Africa-Press – Angola. The announcement of the preparation for the construction of a National Observatory to predict natural phenomena, made by the Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula de Carvalho, was highlighted in the social news during the week that ends Saturday.
The matter, according to the governor, is already legislated, and its practical implementation is now lacking to have a prediction of natural phenomena, with a probability above 90 percent, in order to take prior and appropriate measures.
The week was marked by the position of the Secretary of State, Nuno Caldas Albino, who defended in Malanje the need for media bodies to position themselves as agents of mobilization for participatory citizenship and proximity governance, having highlighted the importance of bodies in assuming as a catalyst for the economic, social, political and cultural development of Angola.
The last seven days also marked the recognition of the winners of the SADC 2023 Prize in the Press, Radio and Television categories, who were honored by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, with a diploma of merit.
It was also a subject of the evacuation of residents of buildings 60 and 62 on Avenida Hoji-ya-Henda, in Luanda, due to the collapse of a piece of plaster on Thursday afternoon, but, after the panic, citizens returned when they fell their homes at night, due to the inspection carried out by technicians from the National Directorate of Buildings and Monuments and the Angolan Engineering Laboratory.
Another subject that deserved to be highlighted was the announcement of the implementation by the Angolan Executive, through the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), of the learning subsidy in professional training centers.
The measure, according to the general director of this institution, Manuel Mbangui, comes to respond to the high dropout rate throughout the training process, mainly in the south of the country.
Another highlight was the performance of the first heart operation on an 11-day-old newborn, at the Cardeal Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex, Luanda province, to remove a catheterization (foreign object) that was housed next to the organ.
According to the clinical staff at that hospital unit, the surgery, the first of its kind in Angola, was a success and allowed the newborn’s life to be saved.
The works of the Angolan artist, Ana Silva, were on display, until this Friday (15), at the Mabe Gallery located on Grand Rue 25, in Geneva, Switzerland, where a mix of memories were displayed in a single space shared with the Swiss-Uruguayan, Daniel Orson Ybarra, under the theme “poetic interdependence”.
