Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Maiato, interacted this Saturday with Angolans residing in that Persian Gulf country, in a ceremony that served to introduce him to the community.

The diplomat listened carefully to the concerns of nationals in the diaspora, ensuring that the authorities are attentive to the vicissitudes of citizens, whether in Angola or abroad.

Júlio Maiato pointed out to the attention requested by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for the problems of the diaspora, in particular legal-consular protection, that it be informed about the country’s reality, and its engagement in the Nation’s ephemeris occasions.

This positioning of the Head of State was made during the IX Extended Consultative Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) held in April 2023, at the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, in Luanda.

The ambassador noted the precautions presented in the interventions of the vice-president of the Association of Angolans and Friends in the United Arab Emirates, Miguel de Jesus da Silva, guaranteeing cooperation for the good of everyone in the diaspora.

He mentioned the fact that the Angolan community in the UAE represents one of the most respected diasporas, according to local authorities, as there is no record of notable situations that violate order and violation of laws.

The number of Angolans in the United Arab Emirates has grown and is around 200 Angolans, especially in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Regarding consular registration, the Consul-General of Angola in Dubai, Bento Salazar André “Morgado”, announced the launch of itinerant consular acts, within the community, from next November, as part of the celebration of 48 years of National Independence.

Furthermore, he revealed the creation of a club in which Angolan and United Arab Emirates businesspeople will take part to exchange ideas on various issues, including cultural, business, economic and business.
