Africa-Press – Angola. Filomena Assunção de Lima was elected, this Saturday, secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), in Cuanza Norte.
The leader of the female branch of the MPLA was elected with 202 votes in favor and seven against, during the 1st Extraordinary Assembly of the OMA Provincial Committee.
Filomena de Lima replaces Nary Cajica Aguiar, now a member of the National Assembly.
The event, which took place under the motto “Angolan woman, participation, inclusion and development”, was chaired by the outgoing provincial secretary, Nary Aguiar, who has led the organization’s activities in the region since 2021.
At the opening ceremony, the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, Pedro Makita Armando Júlia, who witnessed the event, called for greater unity and engagement of OMA activists in the materialization of the party’s programs, with a view to improving the population’s social conditions.
On the occasion, the leader congratulated the outgoing secretary for her achievements in favor of the party’s women’s organization.
At the end of the event, the member of the monitoring group of the OMA National Committee for Kwanza Norte, Ana Maravilha Fernandes, encouraged the organization’s new provincial secretary to face the challenge with optimism and to continue with the growth dynamics desired in the province.
Ana Maravilha Fernandes urged OMA activists to support the Government’s measures in favor of the country’s development.
