Africa-Press – Angola. Thirty different explosive devices were removed from the Dande River, Bengo province, under the Sassa Povoação bridge.
The removal work began last week, and is being carried out by a multisectoral team made up of personnel from the National Demining Center, divers from the Fire Department and the National Police.
These demining actions take place due to the fact that several reports were made about the existence of strange objects in that location.
The head of the National Demining Center, assigned to the Ministry of Defense, Bernardo Neves, said that the removal work and population awareness actions will continue.
The Sassa Povoação bridge is an infrastructure that facilitates the connection of Caxito to the municipalities of Dembos, Bula Atumba, Pango Aluquém and the neighboring province of Uíge.
In Bengo, the last incident with an explosive device took place on Wednesday (20 September) in the commune of Úcua, municipality of Dande, seriously injuring two children.
