Nzangi-Tchicolondo section could be rehabilitated in 2024

Africa-Press – Angola. The road that connects the seat of the municipality of Cambulo to the Tchicolondo Border can be intervened (rehabilitated) in 2024, announced this Saturday, the governor of Lunda Norte, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho.

The leader, who made this announcement during the consultation of the population of the Canzar commune, highlighted that the rehabilitation will be financed by a foreign private company.

Without revealing further technical and financial details, he reiterated that the effective rehabilitation of the section will increase the volume of business on the Tchicolondo border and the collection of tax revenue.

“Since the opening of the Lobito Corridor, we have received foreign businesspeople who have shown interest in rehabilitating this section, as it provides access to the Tchicolondo border, which is one of the largest sources of tax revenue collection in the country”, he highlighted.

The Tchicolondo border between Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the second largest in the country in terms of revenue collection, after Luvo (Zaire), and is responsible for 50 percent of tax revenues in the province of Lunda Norte .

Until July, tax revenues collected on that border, through commercial exchanges, were above 160 million kwanzas.

On the other hand, he promised the rehabilitation of the Canzar hospital, an increase in classrooms and function residences to prevent the flight of staff from the Education and Health sectors.

Deolinda Vilarinho carried out a two-day working visit to the municipalities of Cachimo and Canzar, municipality of Cambulo, where she learned about the socioeconomic situation of the districts.

The municipality of Cambulo is more than 90 kilometers from the city of Dundo, has more than 150 inhabitants in five municipalities (Cachimo, Canzar, Luia and Cambulo).
