Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, reopens, on Monday, the Neves Bendinha Specialized General Hospital, known as Hospital dos Queimados, after rehabilitation and expansion works.

With its rehabilitation and expansion, the health unit gains an area of ​​1,500 m2, 93 new beds, three laboratories, ICU and telemedicine.

According to a press release, patients with burns who were being treated and those admitted to the Zango Municipal Hospital will begin to be transferred to the new facilities from Tuesday, October 3rd.

After rehabilitation and expansion, block 1 now houses a state-of-the-art laboratory, sterilization, medicine storage with specific drugs for burns and other commonly used drugs, an auditorium with a capacity of 81 seats and administrative areas.

According to the note, Block 2 has a library and meeting room with videoconferencing, while Block 3 houses maintenance and support services.

The Operating Room has two surgical rooms and two recovery rooms with high-tech equipment such as dermatomes and highly complex skin expanders, among others, with connection to telemedicine services to provide the best care to users.

The south wing now houses offices, a new ultrasound room, an X-ray room, 2 observation rooms, a morgue with 8 drawers, a pharmacy, a laundry room and a cafeteria, while the north wing of the hospital includes several sections, such as hemotherapy, wards , dressing room, post-operative period, Oxygen and medical gas plant.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has 13 beds, three of which are for isolation for infectious pathologies or immuno-suppressed patients. The laboratory service has three rooms, two for clinical analyzes (internal and external) and one for microbiology.

In block 4 there is an independent energy transformation station and two generating sets to ensure continuity of services and block 5 houses the Physiotherapy and Administrative Services areas.

Due to its advanced state of degradation, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, during a visit in August 2018, guided the rehabilitation, expansion and equipping, based on an allocation of financial resources from the oil bonus for this purpose.

Neves Bendinha Hospital is a reference health unit in the country and its mission is to offer humanized services to users with burns.

The rehabilitation of this health unit, with the benefits it brings, is part of the Executive’s efforts aimed at improving the population’s care, as well as the working conditions of health professionals, with the objective of providing health care to quality and humanized.
