The studies and supervision technician at the Northwest Regional Delegation of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Miguel Canomba, highlighted this Tuesday, in the city of Soyo, Zaire province, the importance of metallic coins with a lower face value in transactions commercials.
In a lecture, the senior BNA official explained that metallic coins, as well as kwanza notes with a lower face value, allow users to buy and receive change, thus making commercial transactions viable.
The person in charge was addressing traders, members of youth organizations, motorcycle taxi drivers and students, as part of the financial education program under the responsibility of this central bank.
He said that the rejection of metallic coins in the commercial system is counterproductive, as it is one of the causes of the rise in prices of essential goods in the formal and informal market.
He explained that the BNA has been developing, since last Monday, in the municipality of Soyo, lectures aimed at reinforcing citizens’ financial education, with the main objective being to advise against rejecting metallic coins in commercial transactions.
He considered it important to focus on dialogue with the different fringes of society, explaining how harmful the rejection of coins and notes with a lower face value of kwanzas is in the lives of citizens.
For two days, BNA technicians also met with public officials, traditional and religious entities and other institutions to address topics relating to currencies in circulation in the national market, personal finance management, wealth formation, savings and investment .
The BNA Northwest Delegation serves the provinces of Zaire and Uíge, with headquarters in the latter.
