Africa-Press – Angola. A Municipal Forum for the Collection of Contributions for the Preparation of the Administration Budget for the 2024 financial year was promoted, this Tuesday, in the border municipality of Luau, Moxico province by the Lutheran Association for the Development of Angolana.

During the forum, which brought together the residents of the district, it was proposed to reinforce investment in social projects linked to the health, education, agriculture, energy and water sectors, during the execution of the General State Budget (2024).

Speaking at the ceremony, the municipal administrator of Luau, Filomena Miza, recalled that the forum aims to guarantee the direct participation of residents in the identification, analysis and definition of the region’s priority projects.

Under the auspices of the Angolan government, the participatory budget is a mechanism that aims to allow citizens to participate directly in the management of public finances at local level within the framework of the implementation of the participatory and inclusive governance model, in order to foster sustainable development and contribute to the emancipation of citizens in resolving their own problems.

Located 334 kilometers east of Luena, capital of the province of Moxico, the border municipality of Luau, has a population of

more than 117 thousand 453 thousand inhabitants, according to projections by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The municipality has three thousand 839 km2, and is limited to the west and north by the municipality of Muconda, to the east by the Democratic Republic of Congo, and to the

south by the municipality of Luacano.
