Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Júlio Belarmino Gomes Maiato, was accredited, this Tuesday (3), in Abu Dhabi, as the country’s Permanent Representative to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) .

According to a press release, the director general of IRENA, Francesco La Camera, received the Letters of Credentials from ambassador Júlio Maiato, in a ceremony held at the facilities of that international institution based in Abu Dhabi.

At the event, attended by Angolan diplomats and IRENA staff, cooperation and reinforced interaction between countries that are part of the international platform focused on renewable energy actions were highlighted.

On the occasion, the head of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in the United Arab Emirates conveyed the Angolan Government’s vision on the projects considered the country’s priorities within the framework of the energy transaction.

Angola joined IRENA on January 26, 2009, when the Member States of the United Nations and the Regional Intergovernmental Organizations for economic integration decided, at an International Conference on Energy, to establish the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to promote cooperation in the field and development of the use of renewable energy technologies.

Currently part of the coverage area of ​​the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Abu Dhabi, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Afghanistan (currently the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as well as the International Agency for Renewable Energy (IRENA).
