Trial of the former administrator marked by contradictions

Africa-Press – Angola. The second trial session of the former municipal administrator of Humpata, in the province of Huíla, Paula Nassone, which took place on Wednesday, in this city, six defendants were heard, whose statements were marked by contradictions between them.

Paula Nassone, accused of two crimes of influence peddling, five crimes of embezzlement, one crime of receiving an undue advantage, violation of plan and budget execution rules.

The session was marked by contradictory statements Paula Nassone and businessman Júlio Chicuaia, who co-authored material with partner Luísa Almeia, at Empresa Mutima, are accused of three crimes of breach of trust.

During the interrogation, the businessman clarified that he never provided services to the Municipal administration of Humpata, the latter only paid an estimated amount of 328 thousand kwanzas to his company, for the construction of a fence wall and a water supply system. .

He declared that after paying the amount in question, he carried out a survey of the costs of the service and found that the value was estimated at more than 11 million kwanzas, much higher than what the administration had paid, which is why he did not carry out the work, returning it later the amount, after being called by the SIC, in the preparatory instruction phase.

He mentioned that he communicated the facts to his partner, so that she could get in touch with the defendant Paula in order to find a way out, but he did not receive any response, the aforementioned contract was not concluded for reasons he did not know, since the deal was done with his partner, co-defendant Luísa Almeida.

When the defendant Paula was confronted with the statements made by the defendant Júlio Chicuaia, she claimed that they did not correspond to the truth, because the defendant did not have control over the intricacies of the negotiation, which arose through an invitation letter, from the Municipal Administration of Humpata, as it was carried out only with the defendant Luísa.

The defendant Paula Nassone maintained her statements, claiming that the deal prescribed the construction of a wall to seal the MPLA municipal committee, in Humpata and the rehabilitation of an area where water leaked and infiltrated, the agreed value of which was estimated at more than two million , hence the first payment was worth more than one million.
