Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, visited the Recycled Articles Fair in Huambo on Wednesday, as part of her working visit to the province.

The exhibition took place in the space adjacent to the Center for Tropical Ecology and Climate Change (CETAC), one of the institutions covered by Esperança da Costa, on its first day of activity in the region.

Flanked by the local governor, Lotti Nolika, and the minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Bragança, the Vice-President toured the fair for around 15 minutes, interacting with the exhibitors, who, in addition to providing explanations about the work, they took advantage of the opportunity to request institutional and other support.

The leader came into contact with articles resulting from the use of cans, plastic, paper, tires, pottery and plants, as well as books on sustainable management of lands and waters in the Central Plateau.

Meanwhile, exhibitors Fernando Tomás and José Raimundo praised the presence of the Vice-President, for attending the event, and were pleased to be able to present their business to her.

Fernando Tomás, mentor of the “Plástico Zero” project, explained that it consists of collecting as much plastic as possible from the streets, for recycling, a process carried out by seven workers.

The small entrepreneur displayed a recycling machine and said he was looking for partnerships and institutional help.

José Raimundo, member of the environmental association AniMar, focuses his activity on combating fires in the province, referring to his role as a community agent in training and raising awareness among populations about the negative effects of this practice, such as climate change, animal escape and degradation. of the soils.

The Vice-President’s visit is part of the monitoring of the Education, Higher Education and Environment sectors.

The same continues this Thursday, with trips to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Cambiote University Center, Huambo Municipal Hospital, the Professional Training Center of the Benguela Railway (CFB) and the Special Education School.
