CPJ management in dispute with some employees

Africa-Press – Angola. The Management of the Social Security Fund of Justice (CPJ) is in “litigation” with a group of employees from some justice bodies who illegally call themselves the new management of the CPJ, without respecting legal precepts, the representative said from the Ad-hoc commission, Miriam Machado.

According to the person in charge, who was speaking at a press conference called to clarify misunderstandings that had arisen on behalf of the CPJ and to alert members and the legal profession, she highlighted that the alleged leadership illegally called elections and elected itself as the CPJ Directorate, with empty room, i.e. less than 30 members.

He explained that the supposed elected leadership is led by Claudino Filipe, treasurer of CPJ and Mércia Bravo, a CPJ employee suspended in September 2022 and without any legal link with any justice body, is working with insurance companies, banks and other partners to carry out acts illegal and legally non-existent.

According to Miriam Machado, the supposed elected Board, aware of the existence of an Extraordinary CPJ Assembly scheduled for the 23rd of this month, with the aim of destabilizing the Justice Pension Fund, also scheduled a meeting for October 13, 2023. Extraordinary Assembly (published in the Angolan newspaper on October 3, 2023), with the aim of amending the Statutes and Regulations in October 2023. It considered all the acts carried out and the fact that some of these elements were not even associated with the fund to be “serious”. from CPJ.

For her part, one of those responsible for the Ad’hoc Commission, Amor de Fátima, should not have elections without convening an Assembly by a competent body, in this case, headed by the president of the Assembly board, Ana Carlos Canene de Meireles de Vasconcelos and by the President of the Board of Directors, Francisco Arsénio da Silva Fortunato Goncalves.

“There must be a regulation approved by the Assembly and there must be an electoral commission that is an assembly to designate and give consent to hold free and transparent elections,” he said. As explained, the fund has members spread across the country and a restricted group cannot call an election without knowing which state the fund’s reports are in and the situation of its beneficiaries.

Caixa’s technician, Horácio Andrade, considered the situation difficult because Caixa does not work and what has been leading employees to go without pay for three months.

“We are being threatened by the supposed members”, he said. The supposed management will hold an Extraordinary General Assembly on the 13th of this October to change its statutes and regulations and redefine the future of this mutualist association.

The session will take place at the Palace of Justice, in Luanda, at 9:00 am, and is allegedly the result of the need to adapt such documents to the country’s new socio-economic reality and the diplomas that govern mutualism.

The Justice Pension Fund (CPJ) is a non-profit Mutualist Association of which employees in this sector, Judicial Magistrates and the Public Prosecutor’s Office and their respective staff in performance of their duties can be members, provided they register.
