Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Government will continue to adopt exceptional measures to increasingly boost agribusiness and increase the production of basic necessities in the country, highlighted this Saturday, in Luanda, the Secretary of State for Economy, Ivan dos Santos .

When opening the second edition of the Angolan Agribusiness Forum, the leader pointed to the reinforcement of financial and tax incentives for agribusiness operators as factors that could boost this activity in Angola and maintain it on the path to socio-economic growth.

He mentioned that the current global economic context presents numerous challenges, a fact that requires the creation of exceptional strategies to guarantee greater fiscal flexibility in the country, without compromising the State’s ability to capture revenue and execute the expenditure portfolio.

With this, he said, the aim is to reduce the impact of one of the great evils affecting the national economy – excessive dependence on the import of products widely consumed in the country.

Ivan dos Santos recalled that the Angolan Government has its arms open to private investment, with the predisposition of mechanisms that can facilitate doing business, being aware that it is a process that requires time and solidity, to resist external, political and economic shocks. .

On the occasion, Ivan dos Santos recognized that agribusiness has been the main promoter of the diversification of the Angolan economy, having increased from 57% of its participation in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in 2011, to around 75%, in 2022.

With this progress, he highlighted, it is possible to assess that agribusiness appears to be a strategic factor in its most varied areas, such as agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture, as well as the trade and distribution of agricultural services.

He also highlighted the advancement of the process of economic diversification in the country, which went from 1% in 2019 to 5% in the last three years, with an emphasis on agro-industry.

As for the forum, the Secretary of State for Economy considered the event to be of crucial importance, as it represented a platform for the discussion of constructive and innovative ideas, with a view to strengthening the agribusiness sector in Angola.

During the event, promoted by the Angolan company Zambeca International Business, participants debated topics such as “The industrialization of agribusiness in Angola”, “The power of self-responsibility in agribusiness”, “Creativity and innovation for the industrialization of agribusiness” , “Rural community work to favor Angolan agribusiness”, among others.

The respective topics were discussed by different national and foreign agricultural experts and businesspeople, such as economist Filomena Oliveira, businesswoman Paula Bartolomeu, master coach Vera Neia and marketing and political strategy expert Edgar Leandro.
