Africa-Press – Angola. The Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, Aviation General Altino José dos Santos, reiterated, this Monday, in Luanda, that the FAA constitute the “secure and unavoidable bulwark” of peace, stability, unity and reconciliation national.
When speaking on the occasion of the celebration of the corporation’s 32nd anniversary, the Aviation General highlighted that the FAA has a sublime importance in the geopolitical and geostrategic scenario in the Southern Region, particularly in Africa and the world.
Altino dos Santos said there is a need to continually adapt its military apparatus to changing circumstances, with the power of deterrence and effective response capacity to defend territorial integrity, sovereign bodies and populations.
The official also referred to the regional geostrategic spaces of which Angola is part, from a collective security perspective and within the framework of constitutional legality and international commitments assumed by the country.
“The actions of the FAA in carrying out peacekeeping and humanitarian aid missions will continue to be increasingly improved, taking into account the adequacy of doctrinal aspects and standardization of procedures to achieve the desired efficiency”, he stressed.
All these missions, he highlighted, require permanent preparation of the armed forces, their modernization with human resources, infrastructure, techniques and weapons, in addition to recruitment processes, selection of military incorporation to rejuvenate their ranks.
He made it known that instruction centers, schools, institutes and academies must continue to be breeding grounds for the military institution, working to improve the profile of personnel at all levels, training the new soldier for the challenge of the present and the future. future.
On the occasion, the Chief of Staff expressed his respect, affection, admiration and appreciation for the “brave combatants, living or dead, who, in the service of the FAA, wrote with sweat and blood the golden pages of Angola’s history, in the fight for freedom, independence and peace”.
During the activity, preceded by the laying of a wreath at the monument of the unknown soldier, on the Luanda Marginal, there was a parade of blocks with the three branches of the FAA (Army, Navy and National Air Force).
Depending on the date, the event saw the promotion of some personnel and the delivery of certificates of merit, in addition to awards to the winning teams in the futsal, eleven-a-side football, chess and athletics tournaments, all made up of personnel from the Angolan Armed Forces.
