Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan writer Nituecheni Africano, pseudonym of Eugénio Afonso Gaspar, was distinguished last Friday, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) with the “Literary Reference” award, in an initiative by the Brazilian publisher Publiart.
According to the statement from the publisher Publiart sent this Monday, he is the only Angolan representative recognized in the second edition of the event, considering it the second biggest award in the history of the Brazilian literary world, after the “Jabuti Prize” .
To this end, the organization invites the writer, accompanied by the director of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office in the province of Huambo, to visit the Castanhal book fair and, at the same time, to receive, at the Artsee headquarters, his title and the “Literary Reference” medal.
“Each year we celebrate with euphoria and award several awards to national and international writers who stand out in the world of literature. For this reason, the prize is awarded, in 2023, to the international and first Angolan writer, Nituecheni Africano”, it reads.
He adds that the writer won with the work “O Emigrante da Web e sua Folices”, with a pure message that transmits moral values to global society, as it has contributed greatly to the recovery of good habits for Brazil and the world.
According to the statement, the imminent dangers of using social networks, their advantages and disadvantages are themes found in the book by author Nituecheni Africano, hence the congratulations on the award that Angola receives and Africa congratulates itself.
It is worth remembering that the Castanhal fair, in the State of Pára, in Brazil, takes place on the 25th of this month.
Writer’s journey
It is recalled that Nituecheni Africano, 33 years old, won, in 2022, the category of Best Novel of the IV edition of the Great Literary Competition of Latin America, with the work entitled “The Immigrant of the Web and His Follies”, which includes 63 pages and edited by the Association of Young Writers of Angola.
The event, the basis for voting, was attended by 192 writers from various countries, particularly Latin America, who competed in various categories, with Nituecheni being African, the only representative of the continent “the cradle of humanity”.
At the beginning of this year, he was appointed ambassador of literature in five African countries, by the Brazilian magazine Word-Book Revier.
These are Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Uganda, through solidarity financing, which began on April 3 of this year.
The writer was recently at the headquarters of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), in Lisbon, Portugal, where he launched the work “O Recluso”, a detective novel genre, which addresses, among other themes, the money laundering of capital and abuse of power.
To date, he has four literary works, namely “O Prisioneiro do Amor”, with 255, “O Vendedor de Pães As Mos”, with 145 pages, and “O Imigrante da Web e Sua Folices”, with 63 and “Reclusos ”, with 153 pages.
Born in the province of Huambo, on September 12, 1990, writer Eugénio Afonso Gaspar has a degree in IT and Business Administration from the Technical University of Angola (UTANGA).
