Africa-Press – Angola. A judicial cooperation agreement was signed this Thursday between the Union of Justice and Administrative Technicians of the Attorney General’s Office (INTEJAPGR) and the Council of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in Huambo.

The local secretary of SINTEJAPGR, Andrade Prata, and the president of the Council of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in Huambo, Domingos Sassi, were signatories.

The memorandum deals, above all, with issues linked to judicial sponsorship, development and evolution of relations in the field of training and technical-scientific qualification.

On the occasion, Andrade Prata informed that the agreement is part of a national INTEJAPGR orientation, focused on improving the protection and defense of the interests of members, through the provincial lawyers’ councils.

He added that it aims to facilitate the process of appointing lawyers in criminal, civil and disciplinary matters, as well as the protection or defense of members in legal conflicts with employers.

The union leader called on members to practice exemplary professional conduct, in addition to paying greater attention to complying with labor rights, duties and obligations, to avoid unnecessary conflicts that could affect cooperation with the legal council.

He highlighted the role of the Angolan Bar Association in providing defense to citizens, through legal assistance, a competence enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, taking into account the State’s interest in safeguarding this right.

In turn, the president of the Council of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in Huambo, Domingos Sassi, valued the cooperation included in the activities of the 1st national colloquium and general assembly of the National Unions of Justice and Administrative Technicians of the PGR, the take place from the 20th to the 21st of this month, in this province.

Domingos Sassi assured that, from now on, whenever one of the union’s members has a problem that requires the intervention of a lawyer, the order will be ready, within the scope of the institutional memorandum signed.

He clarified that the intervention of lawyers in the legal issues of citizens, as an act enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, in its article 29, which establishes that everyone has the right to courts and justice, the latter cannot be denied due to insufficiency of means.

The Union of Justice and Administrative Technicians of the Attorney General’s Office, in the process of being implemented and registered in this region of the country, currently controls 81 members.

The Bar Association council in Huambo has more than 900 lawyers, including professionals and interns, distributed in 54 offices, based in the municipalities of Bailundo, Caála and Huambo.
