Africa-Press – Angola. Members of the protocol and ceremonial of the National Assembly (NA) will participate until Friday in a training seminar, within the scope of the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP) scheduled between the 23rd and 27th of this month, in Luanda.

Guided by national and foreign technicians, including UIP advisors, the training action was opened by the secretary general of the National Assembly, Pedro de Neri, who highlighted its importance for the success of the magnificent event that Angola hosts, for the first time in your history.

The person in charge highlighted that the UIP meeting will test the hospitality, organizational capacity and powers of a protocol nature of Casa das Leis, which is why he appealed for everyone’s commitment to this arduous task.

According to Pedro de Neri, between 60 and 70 percent of the assembly’s success depends on the provision of services by this group of employees, hence the need to seek excellence and quality to guarantee functional work and make a difference.

The person responsible drew attention to fluid internal communication and readiness in the distribution of documents, in order to avoid asymmetries from the point of view of information, as well as other constraints.

During the first day, participants received knowledge on the topics “challenges of organizing a IPU assembly, lectured by Sally-Anne Haywood-Sader, head of conferences at the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and “protocol and female image”, lectured by Hildeth Coimbra, executive secretary of the Association of Ceremonial and Protocol Professionals of Angola.

Matters relating to “deontology applied to ceremonial, protocol and organization of events”, “gastronomic diplomacy and gastrodiplomacy” and “reception and service at highly complex events” were also covered.

For Friday, the program covers the topics “etiquette and protocol attention when transporting entities, transport management when organizing events, security at events and the role of the master of ceremonies in official events.

Pedro de Neri made it known, on the other hand, that the next training action, the date of which he did not indicate, will be aimed at personnel in the security and catering areas, in order to coordinate and complement the services.

Regarding the preparations for the 147th General Assembly of the IPU, he said that it is in the final phase, which he considers to be good, despite some aspects to be concluded, and that the presence of more than 1,500 delegates is expected.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union is an international organization of the parliaments of sovereign states, whose objective is to mediate multilateral contacts between deputies.

The organization has an intergovernmental nature, operates under the United Nations system and its main aim is to obtain peace and cooperation between peoples and the consolidation of representative institutions through dialogue.
