Africa-Press – Angola. The UNITA Parliamentary Group formalized, this Thursday, with the National Assembly, its proposal to dismiss the President of the Republic (PR), João Lourenço.
In the document, the party points out, among other allegations, alleged violations of the Constitution and interference in the legislative and judicial powers, by the Holder of the Executive Branch.
Before formalization, the leader of the UNITA parliamentary group, Liberty Chiyaka, explained, in a press conference, that the document, with 100 pages, was signed by the 90 deputies of this party force, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic and the parliamentary rules.
“It is not the UNITA parliamentary group that will challenge the governance of the President of the Republic and promote his dismissal, because it does not have the constitutional competence to do so”, he stressed, stressing that it is up to the people, on the initiative of a third of their representatives and the approval of two thirds of the deputies, dismiss the President.
João Lourenço is serving his second term, legitimized by the victory of his party (MPLA) in the 2022 general elections, by an absolute majority.
