The Multisectoral Commission to Support the Carrying Out of the 2024 Census recommended, this Wednesday, the effective implementation of provincial technical groups to facilitate cartographic updating and boost the dissemination of the General Population and Housing Census, which begins on July 19th next year.

Meeting in Luanda, the Commission, under the presidency of its general coordinator, the Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, made a preliminary assessment of the Pilot Census, which took place in seven provinces from July to September this year.

According to the spokesperson for the national technical group, Hernani Pena Luís, the ordinary meeting assessed compliance with the recommendations of the last meeting, as well as making a brief assessment of the Pilot Census, which had a coverage rate of 90%, considered positive by the committee.

Work on the cartographic network is also taking place in the country’s 18 provinces, starting in the seven provinces selected for the Census. These, from now on, will require greater monitoring by provincial technical groups, led by the respective governors.

Regarding the logistics and mobility issue, the spokesperson assured that the conditions are in place.

Pilot Census

The National Institute of Statistics (INE), within the scope of carrying out the General Population and Housing Census – Census 2024, carried out the Pilot Census, between July 19th and September 5th, 2023, in seven provinces of the country, namely, Luanda, Bengo, Bié, Lunda Norte, Cuando Cubango, Uíge and Cunene, carried out in 410 census sections, corresponding to the same number of field agents.
