Africa-Press – Angola. The Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP) in the municipality of Cuanhama, in Cunene, has had a positive impact on improving the social and economic conditions of families, informed the local administrator, José Kalomo.
Speaking on the occasion of October 17th, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the administrator said that the implementation of the program is making it possible to bring a set of services to rural communities and provide greater opportunities for families in situations of poverty.
He made it known that for this year, the PLDLCP registered 39 actions, divided into seven axes, running since the month of June, in the municipalities of Ondjiva, Mongua, Nehone, Oshimolo and Evale.
“Of the axes, the agriculture, livestock, fishing, hydraulics and engineering sector stands out with 12 actions, social promotion and female training (six), primary health care (four), citizenship (four), rural infrastructures ( five), water and sanitation (three) and school meals (five)”, he stated.
José Kalomo recalled that annually, the municipality benefits from a quota of 300 million kwanzas, 25 million of which per month, allocated to carrying out actions to meet the needs of families in poverty.
With 360,491 inhabitants, distributed across the municipalities of Ondjiva, Mongua, Nehone, Evale and Oshimolo, the municipality of Cuanhama has 58 health units and a staff of 498 health professionals.
