Africa-Press – Angola. Thirteen thousand 439 criminal cases were analyzed by guarantee judges in the country, from last May to the present date, out of a total of 13 thousand 669, which resulted in the issuance of three thousand 615 release and bail warrants.

The data was mentioned this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ), Joel Leonardo, at the opening of the 6th Ordinary Session of the CSMJ Plenary.

The venerable judge highlighted the work carried out, across the country, by the 176 existing guarantee judges, since the creation of the specialty, on May 2, 2023.

Of this number, four thousand 859 arrest warrants were also issued, while 230 cases remain to be decided.

Joel Leonardo called for greater speed in the performance of judicial activity, having announced, soon, the reinforcement of the team with 11 judges, in addition to 182 legal judges, still in internship, whose integration should occur later.

“It is necessary that the files being processed in the courts are resolved in a timely manner,” he said, referring to processes linked to evictions, sharing of inheritance, summary judgments and precautionary measures.

He defended the digitalization of court services at national level and the need to encourage employees who excel in the exercise of their role.

The president of the CSMJ pointed out as immediate tasks the inauguration of the courts of relation of Uíge, Saurimo (Lunda Sul) and Viana (Luanda), the General Vault of the Courts, the implementation of the courts of Cazenga, Icolo and Bengo, both in capital of the country, Nzeto (Zaire) and Kibala, in the province of Cuanza Sul.

Taking place behind closed doors, the meeting, which is scheduled to end, addresses, among others, topics relating to the performance of the courts and the current state of the functioning of the guarantee judge in the district courts, with a view to the opening of “ ways” to satisfy the citizens’ legal appeal.
