Africa-Press – Angola. Amadores Ciclo Turismo cyclist, Euclides Chingui, won (Thursday), the 5th stage of 20 kilometers of the Volta Angola “Pepino’2023”, with a time of 25 minutes, 6 seconds and 15 tenths, held in Soyo, province of Zaire.

One of the country’s time trial specialists, Euclides Chingui, had already won the first five km time trial, of the second edition of the Volta Angola, which took place in Huambo Province.

This time, Chingui, in this time trial, comes out later in the starting order, given the importance of each competitor. His colleague Cristian Ramon (ACT) started first, who came second on the podium, with a time of 25: 39.37.

Petro de Luanda’s competitor, Bruno Araújo, came in third place, with a time of 26:23.75, in a 20 km stage, which started in front of the Kuanda oil base, in Soyo, in the province of Zaire.

Despite Euclides Chingui’s victory, it was not enough to take the yellow jersey, the most important of the Tour, from Dário António, who in the general classification, came fifth, with a time of 26:46.7.

Dário António, has been in the starting order with the yellow jersey, since the dispute in the third stage, in which he won on the route, Lobito to Sumbe.

The winner of the fifth stage, Euclides Chingui, won the white jersey, also very important for the Volta Angola, which pays homage to the late veteran athlete, Alberto da Silva “Pepino’223”.

Bruno Araújo, won the white polka dot shirt for the Mountain prize, while Adérito Pereira, won the dark green shirt for the best young people in the competition.

Agnaldo Sassinda, took the dark green jersey, as the fastest athlete in Meta Volante.

The fifth stage, passed through the bridge called Kimpuanza, in Kicongo language, which means Independence, of the Zaire river channel and will go around the Combined Cycle of Energy, Gas and Hydrothermal, located in the municipality of Soyo, province of Zaire, with the population estimated at 280 thousand inhabitants, until the last housing census.

On Friday, the sixth stage takes place, with a 145 km race, leaving from the upper city of Soyo to the center of the municipality of Nzeto, also in the province of Zaire.
