Africa-Press – Angola. The reforms underway in the country, under the leadership of the president of the MPLA, João Lourenço, have the support of cadres, leaders, activists, friends and supporters of the party in Cuando Cubango, who reaffirmed, this Thursday, their confidence in a better future for Angolans.
The position was expressed during a rally in support of the party leader, which culminated in a mass political event, led by the first provincial secretary, José Martins.
The party leader stated, on the occasion, that the Head of State has demonstrated, before Africa and the World, that he is committed to peace, promoting social justice, democracy, national reconciliation and the well-being of the population.
He recalled that, as a result of his concern for political stability in countries in conflict and people’s security, as President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço was designated, in May last year, “Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa”, due to his commitment to the pacification of the continent, especially within the scope of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL).
The country’s socio-economic development, through the strengthening of the national business community, with a view to increasing internal production of food and other essential goods, constitutes another of the main objectives that Angola intends to achieve, he stated.
Jose Martins highlighted that MPLA activists in the province and the population in general encourage João Lourenço to continue with public policies for the social and economic development of Angola, having assumed that Cuando Cubango “will never allow any situation that calls into question the peace, democracy and peaceful coexistence in the country.”
