Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan André Matias qualified, this Wednesday, for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France).
The athlete from the Clube Naval de Luanda achieved the feat by ranking among the top five in the African rowing – skiff championship, which ended in Tunisia.
Angola participated in Tunis with a selection of both sexes and returns to the country with a ticket to the biggest multidisciplinary event in the world, next year.
Under the technical guidance of the national coach, Gilson Tenazinha, the Africans André Matias and Conceição Ngola participated, who competed for the place in the individual 2000 meter event, and the duo Ricardo Martins/Irineu Meno, in the 2000 meter even event.
Conceição Ngola makes her debut in the continental competition, while André Matias registers his second participation.
The first took place in 2014, in Tipaza, Algeria, where he obtained the pass to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, obtaining a silver medal, alongside Jean Luc Rasamoelina.
