Africa-Press – Angola. The state of bilateral cooperation between Angola and Ukraine, in various areas, was addressed this Thursday, in Luanda, by the head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, and the first vice-president of the Ukrainian Parliament, Oleksandr Korniyenko.

On the occasion, the parliamentarian highlighted the friendship and partnership between the two countries, highlighting the existence of potential to expand this cooperation taking into account the existing historical relations.

According to Oleksandr Korniyenko, there is a need to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation that need to be strengthened and consolidated with a view to developing joint actions towards the progress and prosperity of both nations.

Political-diplomatic relations between Angola and Ukraine were established on December 1, 1994, after the split of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

Several Angolan cadres were formed in the territorial space of Ukraine, as a political unit of the Former USSR, in different areas of knowledge, especially in the fields of medicine, geology and geosciences, maritime navigation and industrial mechanics.

Ukraine is a country located in Eastern Europe, known for its Orthodox churches, Black Sea coast and forested mountains, and is currently facing a military conflict with the Russian Federation.

After hostilities began, in February 2022, the Republic of Angola urged the parties to observe a ceasefire, striving for a peaceful resolution of the conflict, through political dialogue, in full respect of International Law, as enshrined in the Charter of United Nations.
