Africa-Press – Angola. Around 50 exhibitors from the Eastern region (Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Moxico) have been participating since Thursday in the National Production Fair, with a view to publicizing the agricultural potential of the district, within the scope of the 11th National Women’s Forum in Countryside.
The fair, lasting two days and taking place in the backyard of the EX-II Level school, on the outskirts of the city of Saurimo, provides an opportunity for producers in the region to sell their harvest and exchange experiences with other farmers.
The event also features the participation of entrepreneurs, sculptors, visual artists and various traders.
Farmers took to the fair various products such as bananas, cassava, ginguba, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, okra, corn, beans, onions, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, eggplant, cabbage, lettuce, among other agricultural products, including fruit.
On the occasion, the Secretary of State for Family and Promotion of Women, Alcina Lopes, said that the eastern region has great agricultural potential, but that advocacy is necessary so that peasant women receive more support, in order to increase production and attract investments.
He stated that the event will also promote production in the region, in addition to providing a way to sell products, taking into account the difficulties that rural women face in selling surpluses.
He assured that the ministry will advocate, with the sector’s intervening bodies, with the aim of supporting and valuing more women based in rural areas, with means of transport, access to bank credit, acquisition of agricultural inputs and seeds, among others.
The National Production Fair is a promotion of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU) and lasts two days.
