Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s Political Bureau (BP) reiterated this Thursday, in Luanda, the importance of greater investment in the agricultural sector, mainly family farming, which has shown positive signs in recent times.

This position was conveyed to the press by the secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau for Social Policy, Marcicel Kapama, when speaking about the work of the IV Ordinary Meeting of this body, chaired by the leader of this political formation, João Lourenço.

According to the party leader, this is the reason why during the discussions the periodization of greater investment in the agricultural sector was discussed.

He added that the members of the BP also looked at the productive sector of the economy, and discussed ways to leverage it, in the sense of not continuing to depend on external factors that until now have been interfering in the national economy.

During the meeting, an evaluation and assessment of the Memorandum on the country’s Socio-Economic Situation and the National Development Plan (PDN) 2023-2027 was made.

Marcicel Kapama said that BP members took a deep approach to important issues related to the loss of family purchasing power, the quality of education, health (mainly related to primary public health care), job creation for youth and family farming.

Regarding the discussions, he highlighted that “the members were unanimous in saying that we are in a difficult economic and social situation, because we know that although we are in a broad process of economic diversification we still continue to be a petro-dependent country, which means that conflicts that have been taking place at the international level have a direct impact on national economic issues”.

He argued that, as a result, “social issues also involve what we have all been following”.

Despite this fact, Maricel Kapama referred to the “great commitment of the leader of the party and the Executive (João Lourenço), in doing everything to reverse the situation”.

During the work, internal issues were also analyzed, which will be taken to the next meeting of the party Central Committee, scheduled for the second half of next month (November).
